Cover spacers are important for proper concrete coverage. This will make your structure last longer and prevent concrete rot. So get proper advice on what coverage is needed for your project. Next, you will determine which cover spacers you need and how many. This is because they come in different shapes, sizes and materials. To get you started, we give you a handy overview below.
The small concrete spacers are used under rebar cages of a (foundation) beam.
We have them available for coverage from 25 to 55mm. You use 3 spacers per 1000mm rebar cage.
The large concrete spacers are used under reinforcing mesh of a floor.
We have them available for coverage from 25 to 100mm. You use 3 spacers per 1m2 of floor reinforcement.
There are also concrete cover spacers with a clamp or wire. You use these on walls and on the side of a rebar cage when making a foundation beam.
The concrete spacers at walls are recommended over the duo spacers in an aggressive environment (e.g. manure pit).
Concrete spacers bars are used under reinforcing mesh of a floor. They are suitable for both soft and hard surfaces and are always larger than 1 mesh size. Guideline number of adjusting ribs: 2.5 pieces per 1m2.
Attach the plastic spacers to a rebar cage for proper coverage between the concrete reinforcement and the formwork.
Plastic wheel spacers are used with hard formwork (wood or steel) and are suitable for rebar from Ø4 to Ø12mm.
The flat base spacers are used with soft formwork, such as an EPS box or Power box and are suitable for rebar from Ø4 to Ø16mm.
A guideline of 6 per 1000mm of reinforcement cage applies to both.
Plastic line spacers are to be used under floor reinforcement. There are special plastic line spacers for hard or soft ground. They have a length of 2000mm.For the number of plastic line spacers required: floor area (m2) x 0.85.
These spacers keep the two reinforcement mesh in the concrete wall at a distance from each other and ensure proper coverage between the reinforcement steel and the formwork. They are suitable for rebar from Ø4 to Ø12mm.
